Welcome to Black Girls Who Organize (BGWO)
♥ The Inspiration
When Dalys, the BGWO founder launched D’Vine Order, LLC in December 2018, she could not imagine that her excitement would quickly diminish. You see, she was disappointed to witness that, after 15 years of buying and reading special edition publications on Organization and 13 years since completing NAPO’s Intro to Organizing class, that minority women remained underrepresented, especially in print media.
A year later, Dalys decided to research to find a few minority Organizers willing to meet and chat for dinner in her local Washington DC Metro area. The results of their meeting was so impactful, she knew she had to find a way for other women to connect and share that amazing experience.
In January 2020, inspired by the recognition given to black women viewed on Instagram @blackgirlswhoblog, Dalys was led to start a similar page. @BlackGirlsWhoOrganize Platform debuted on IG to uplift, encourage, educate and spotlight other women of color who shared her passion for Professional Organizing— and the rest is history.
♥ The Journey
Dalys’ initial intent was to find 12 ladies total she could Spotlight monthly. However, soon after the Black Lives Matter movement clearly brought a greater awareness to her work and the BGWO community and her goal quickly shifted to spotlighting 52 women, one for every week in 2020. To date, BGWO has surpassed the original quota and have featured 175+ ladies and one gentleman from 27 US states. International Organizers representing Canada, England, Ghana, Nigeria and Puerto Rico have been spotlighted.
♥ The Motto
BGWO continues to authentically and Intentionally bridge the gap between Blacks, other minority Professional Organizers and the Organizing Community at large. BGWO connections go beyond individual business goals to accountability partnerships, collaborations and a sisterhood. BGWO Motto: “Sharing our individual gifts collectively.” ™
♥ The BGWO Retreat
In September 2022, BGWO held its first Relax, Relate and Reset (R3) Retreat in the Washington, DC Metro area. 40 CEO, Women of Color, met and connected in person, many for the first time. Lives were forever changed and relationships sealed. The below photos captures the essence of The BGWO Sisterhood.
